At IWC, we are committed to preparing our students to be leaders in the wellness field. Recently our CEO, Dainah Craft, organized a mock networking event for our Massage Therapy students who are in their final quarter, to hone their professional skills and set them apart when they enter the job market after graduation. The simulation was modeled after the networking breakfasts of our local chamber of commerce, OneZone. Students had previously prepared their professional “elevator pitch” to succinctly express their qualifications, background, and professional interests in the massage therapy field. During the exercise students sat at tables, enjoying coffee and donuts, and practiced their pitches on one another, receiving feedback and suggestions. In a fun twist on “speed dating,” students would then switch tables and deliver their pitches to a new group.
The simulation experience will be useful for these almost-graduates at our Career Fair this week, where they will rotate through booths of employer partners who are actively hiring. Our graduates have a great reputation in the field, and we are wishing this next group all the best as they get ready to embark on their careers as licensed massage therapists!
